Policies & Dance Floor Culture
Our goal is to create a warm, respectful, and inclusive space where dancers can feel safe, inspired, and connected. Tango Monterey Bay Marathon brings together people from different countries and cultures, and mutual respect is the foundation of this shared experience.
To help maintain this atmosphere, we ask all participants to follow the guidelines below.
Respect & Safety

Tango thrives on connection, generosity, and awareness of others:

We invite you to dance openly and inclusively, welcoming both familiar and new partners.

Please arrive to the dance floor feeling fresh and mindful of personal hygiene.

Teaching, correcting, or offering unsolicited feedback on the dance floor is discouraged.

Help keep shared spaces clean and comfortable for everyone.

Commercial promotion or solicitation during the event is not allowed.
On the Dance Floor

To keep the floor safe and enjoyable for all dancers:If you prefer not to be photographed or filmed, please let us know in advance by emailing ..... and we will do our best to respect your request.

Eye contact and non-verbal invitation (cabeceo) are highly encouraged.

Enter the dance floor thoughtfully, respecting the line of dance and the flow of couples.

Stay within your lane and avoid crossing or stopping traffic.

Choose movements appropriate to the space and level of crowding.
-
During cortinas, please clear the floor and allow space for transitions.

Awareness and consideration for fellow dancers are essential—this is a shared space.
Photos & Videos
Moments from the marathon may be photographed or recorded and later used to share the spirit of the event. Participation in the marathon implies consent to appear in such materials.
