The Tango Monterey Bay Marathon is an immersive weekend experience, both on and off the dance floor. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Monterey Peninsula, we invite you to explore the region and enjoy moments of discovery, relaxation, and connection. Alongside the dancing, participants may choose to enjoy whale watching, scenic coastal and canyon hikes, and local wine tasting. These activities are optional, offered as a complement to the marathon experience, and are not included in the cost of the marathon pass.

Ocean Adventure

Monterey Bay is one of the top whale-watching destinations in the world, and Princess Monterey Whale Watching is known for unforgettable whale encounters. The rich marine ecosystem and deep submarine canyon create ideal conditions for observing whales in their natural habitat. This is one of the best seasons to experience it.
A special discount will be available for tango marathon participants. More details to follow.

Scenic Hiking

Saturday Morning Guided Hike:

Point Lobos Coastal Loop (≈2 hours, light).

Join us on Saturday morning for a guided hike with experienced local guide Rob.
A relaxed coastal loop with stunning ocean views, fresh sea air, and a comfortable pace—perfect for enjoying nature without getting tired before dancing.​

Sunday Morning Guided Hike:

Soberanes Canyon Full Loop (strenuous).

On Sunday morning, join Rob for a longer, more demanding hike featuring elevation gain, forested trails, and rewarding views—ideal for experienced hikers looking for a challenge.

We’re happy to partner with Joyce Winery, one of our local winery partners, known for its cool-climate, low-intervention wines.
Rocky soils, strong winds, and a strong marine influence shape Joyce wines, which are crafted to reflect terroir rather than cellar techniques. With a commitment to organic farming and sustainable practices, Joyce Winery avoids additives in pursuit of purity and authentic expression. Producing wines of this kind requires exceptional attention to detail—and Joyce is dedicated to that standard in every bottle.
During the marathon weekend, participants will be invited to enjoy a special two-for-one wine tasting at the tasting room when mentioning the code ‘Tango.’
